HostMilano reveals the furnishing trends in the hospitality sector

Shared spaces, in the hospitality sector as well as in the workplace, should be welcoming and livable at all times of the day. HostMilano took notice of the evolution in the contract sector which aims to make a stay in a given environment as pleasant as possible.

The great attention paid to comfort and aesthetics in the furnishing and contract sector will be increasingly the focus of attention at the next edition of HostMIlano. The Milan-based fair is the event par excellence where Ho.Re.Ca. and Retail find everything they may need: from accessories to turnkey projects, with efficient and at the same time aesthetically pleasing proposals for both indoor spaces and outdoor solutions. With its vast range of companies, HostMilano represents the most dynamic marketplace where to take a look at the latest news and trends.

Outdoor furniture, for example, is considered the calling card of any hospitality facility, and products with padding and upholstery in technical fabrics, rope decorations of various shapes and colors, inserts in different materials, and high- performance paints are increasingly common. But the focus is on sustainability. Some companies have already committed to manufacturing by introducing new washing facilities for their paint shop, eliminating sludge disposal and reducing CO2 emissions. In addition, at the packaging level, there is a decrease in the use of plastics in favor of cardboard. Attractively designed and super-comfortable outdoor stools, tables and modular partitions are made from post-consumer plastics in factories that use only electricity from renewable sources, for an outdoor selection that features high aesthetic value and eco-friendly designs.

At HostMilano innovation is also involving coatings. Wallpaper is a cross solution, an ever-evolving element both technically and creatively where for some time now, made in Italy has been making a difference in the world. Thanks to technological and experimental innovations, it has also become a technical material: it is now possible to coat surfaces with a product with a sound-absorbing features.

Hospitality at the office: inclusive spaces where one can feel better than at home

With orchards and roof gardens, food outlets and cafes, relaxation and play areas, colorful, and warm, in a word: livable. These are the offices of the future, inclusive and sustainable, but most importantly where one can feel better than at home. The difficulties in finding qualified personnel in all sectors — starting with hospitality, but not limited to it — is playing a role in this new wave of work area organization and design. But what are the ins and outs of the moment? HostMilano, thanks to its “antennae” around the world, has tracked the trends of the moment.

OUT

*Plastic partition walls and neutral colors

*Relaxation areas not separated from meeting or work spaces

*Non-inclusive break and refreshment areas with unstaffed kitchens

*Not investing in quality, health, and well-being

IN

*Environmentally friendly and eco-friendly materials that create protected work areas. An example: the curvy cardboard walls that Indian studio VDGA designed in Pune.

*Space for greenery: U.S. studio Cookfox brings beehives, plants and flowers to the rooftops of New York City terraces to create a rustic-bucolic environment.

*Sound-insulated relaxation areas

*Air quality with the use of air purifiers, plants but also paints that absorb pollutants

*Healthy food stations, meaning respectful of ethical diets and intolerances. Indispensable: state-of-the-art vending machines.

As the event approaches, there are more and more novelties joining HostMilano, such as innovative solutions for the furnishing and contract world, in all its aspects.
